Andy Cohen never had his life recorded. But he had a career in reality TV production – including Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise – and witnessed some of his most discussed moments as host of the network’s various special reunion programs.
Now, Cohen looks at the whole genre in «Pour de vrai: l’histoire de la télé-réalité». Opening on Thursday night, the seven E! docuseries retrace the history and cultural impact of reality TV, recalling some of its greatest stars over the years.
“We cover a lot of shows,” Cohen says. “ I mean, who remembers “Kid Nation”?”
Video call recently from his home office in New York – where he spent much of this past pandemic year making a self-proclaimed version of his late-night talk show, “Watch What Happens Live” – Cohen spoke with The Times about her introduction to reality television, bringing together the original cast members of Real Housewives of Orange County and her COVID-19 brush. The conversation was condensed and edited for clarity.
